There is so much to see & do in the area...like take in a scenic hike, follow the passageway along an underground
river in the Linville Caverns. In fact, as part of the PISGAH NATIONAL FOREST, Linville Gorge Wilderness Area
boasts 10,000 acres of natural environment for Hiking and fly fishing.
The breathtaking views of Linville Falls are a short drive away. You can take one of two main hiking trails that lead to beautiful views of the Linville Falls.Grandfather Mountain, highest peak in the Blue Ridge, is the only private park in the world designated by the United Nations as an International Biosphere Reserve. Considered the most biologically diverse mountain in eastern North America, Grandfather welcomes visitors from across the globe to this unique example of the endangered high-elevation spruce-fir ecosystem. At Grandfather Mountain you can photograph bears, river otters, panthers, deer, and eagles in spacious natural wildlife habitats; browse through a nature museum that celebrates the natural history of the region and see original nature movies about the mountain.
You can also enjoy some of the outdoor activities that abound in the area. Horseback riding is only a short 15 minute drive to Springmaid Mountain, Famous North Carolina golf courses are nearby. Visit Cross Creek’s "Toby," our miniature donkey. Hike the Blue Ridge Parkway (just 2 miles away) or visit some of the great shops and interesting cafes and restaurants in the area. Towering almost 6,000 feet above northwest North Carolina, this massive mountain presents visitors with opportunities for rejuvenation, excitement and family memories in a natural haven that will endure forever. Known for the 360-degree views from its Mile High Swinging Bridge, Grandfather is a sanctuary where guests can come eye-to-eye with bears, cougars, otters, a golden eagle and deer in natural habitats, learn about the natural world from knowledgeable guides, stroll gentle nature paths or hike craggy alpine trails. Rugged or civilized, you'll find the mountain adventure that suits your personal comfort level in a place where wonders never cease.
The Grandfather Mountain attraction borders on Grandfather Mountain State Park. Guests at the Grandfather Mountain attraction may access the State Park trail system from the Swinging Bridge. Free admission to the Grandfather Mountain State Park trails is also available from locations outside of the tourist attraction.
Dugger's Creek is located along a trail near the north end of the Blue Ridge Parkway parking lot. It is one of many beautiful trails at Linville Falls, North Carolina.

Linville Falls (2.8 miles): This hike offers five different perspectives of the waterfalls in two short sections. The first section, known as the Erwins View Trail, takes you to three overlooks where you'll appreciate the power of the water that carved the gorge (1.8 miles RT). The second section offers views of the lower falls as it plunges into a basin and then into Linville River itself (1.0 mile RT). Additionally, there's another trail (1.4 miles RT) that leads you to Linville Gorge from this trailhead as well.
